Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made a u-turn on Jack Wilshere’s future at the club and now wants to keep the England international.

Wilshere, 25, was sent on a season-long loan to Bournemouth last term and managed to stay fit for the majority of the campaign.

The midfielder, though, was sidelined for three months at the end of the season after sustaining a hairline fracture to his fibula.

Wenger has repeatedly spoken about the need to trim his squad this summer and had informed Wilshere that he was free to leave the club.

However, according to the Mirror, Wenger has had a change of heart and now wants to keep Wilshere at the Emirates this season.

The midfielder made his return to action in an U23s game on Monday but was sent off after an altercation.

Wilshere is out of contract at the end of the season and will not be handed a new deal unless he can prove his fitness this term but the news is likely to please Arsenal fans who have stood by the midfielder throughout his injury torment.
