Reiss Nelson netted yet another remarkable goal for Arsenal’s Under-23 side, this time against Liverpool, to make it three in three for the wonderkid.

The teenager is already being earmarked as a superstar of the future, and wonder goals against Derby and Manchester City only underlined his enormous potential.

And now Nelson has added yet another special goal to his collection, making it three matches on the spin that he is netted in, this time scoring a delicious lob against Liverpool.

Nelson raced on to a perfectly weighted through-ball and then, with the goalkeeper rushing out, chipped the ball over the Liverpool shot-stopper first time to give the Gunners the lead.

Unfortunately for Nelson and Arsenal, Liverpool sparked a stunning late comeback and eventually emerged as 2-1 victors in Friday night’s match.

Nelson’s latest strike follows hot on the heels from his two spectacular goals against Derby and Man City, with the former involving a slaloming run and exceptional finish.

Although just 17 years old, Nelson already has Arsenal fans calling on Arsene Wenger to give him a shot in the first team, especially if Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is sold before deadline day.

That would free up a space in the Arsenal squad, and Wenger has already dabbled with using Nelson in a wing-back role – as Oxlade-Chamberlain has been playing – during pre-season, though prefers him further forward.

‘He’s a more offensive player, more a guy who can play as one of the three strikers or as an offensive midfielder,’ Wenger told Arsenal Player earlier this summer.

‘What is good for his education is to play in this position as well because we learn how to cope with defensive responsibilities, and that’s a good part of the education of the modern player.

‘As strikers or creative players, you tend to have two kinds of players. Some who are good at running with the ball, and some who are good at running off the ball.

‘He’s more a player who likes the ball to his feet and provokes opponents by passing them.’
