Aaron Ramsey has apologised to Arsenal fans and called for change at the club following the shocking defeat to Liverpool.

The Gunners were thrashed 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday after a performance that ranks alongside the very worst of Arsene Wenger’s reign. Pundits have been queuing up to lambast the performance.

Ramsey was arguably among the worst performers, with his apparent lack of effort and concentration directly contributing to the defeat for Arsenal.

Speaking after the match, Ramsey joined Mesut Ozil in apologising to the Arsenal fans.

‘We’re very disappointed with the way we performed but we have to accept it,’ Ramsey told the club’s official website. ‘We’re sorry to the fans that came up – it’s not good enough and we have to do something about it.’

Ramsey conceded that Liverpool are on another level in pursuit of the Premier League title and Arsenal must rapidly make changes to reach the required standard.

‘We’re going to have to change something if we’re to compete this year.

‘Liverpool showed what it’s going to have to take to compete for the Premier League and we’re going to have to do something about it if we’re going to do that.’
