Ian Wright has called for Arsene Wenger to quit amid a ‘crisis’ at Arsenal as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain closes in on a move to Chelsea.
The legendary forward would not hide his frustration at the performances at the start of the season and he could only lay blame at Wenger’s door.
With several players out of contract and Oxlade-Chamberlain moving to bitter Premier League rivals Chelsea, Wright is convinced the manager has lost the dressing room and that it’s time for him to leave.
‘Where do we start? The amount of things that are going wrong, it does come back to Arsene Wenger’s door,’ he told the BBC. ‘We’re three games in and we’re literally at crisis point.

‘We’re losing players – people are talking about “oh the Ox is opening the door for [Julian] Draxler.” Why would Draxler sign?
‘When you say, “do I think he should go?” I would like him to go simply because I do not believe now that Arsene Wenger can motivate those players with everything that’s going on above him.
‘And the way the players are performing on the pitch, for him to turn this around. For himself, for his own sanity.
‘We are three games in and it’s already an absolute nightmare. Where does he go from here?’
‘The players are no longer playing for their manager. Without a shadow of a doubt.
‘That team has not played for that manager for years. People will say, “what about the semi-final what about the final?” Those were two games. If they lost those games, he probably would have lost his job.
‘The saddest thing about the Arsenal players is they obviously can do it when they want to.’
Wright admitted the situation has gotten so bad that friends who are fans of other top clubs have been treating him with great sympathy.
‘We got exactly what we deserved but I didn’t expect to see – the performance was terrible,’ he added when discussing the 4-0 hammering courtesy of Liverpool.
‘Watching Arsene Wenger on the bench, he was playing with his hands at one stage, he looked very, very uncomfortable and it’s embarrassing.
‘My mates – Chelsea, Tottenham, Man United – they feel sorry for me, man.
‘That is just the worst. They genuinely feel sorry for me.
‘When you go through that list of what’s going wrong – and you have got to throw in recruitment as well – it’s an absolute shambles and I’m really gutted for everyone involved.’
