Jean-Michael Seri wants to join a ‘big European club’ like Arsenal or Liverpool after his dream move to Barcelona collapsed.

Seri, who impressed for Ligue 1 outfit Nice last season, appeared to be on the verge of joining Barca earlier in the month.

Barcelona were said to have agreed personal terms with the Ivory Coast international and a fee with Nice but the Catalan giants suddenly pulled out of the race.

Seri, who has a £36million release clause, remains hopeful of securing a summer move and name dropped two English clubs when asked about his future.

‘I want to be optimistic and think that there are still options,’ Seri told Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

‘Let the two clubs talk quietly again and come to an agreement. We are not talking about any club, where you are going to sign for money.

‘I want to sign for a big European clubs, like Juventus, PSG, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool.

‘For example, Roma, has made several offers. I have spoken many times with Monchi and this transfer has not occurred either because of economic reasons.’

Arsenal were not expected to be active in the transfer market before Thursday night’s deadline but the imminent departure of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may force Arsene Wenger’s hand.

The England international rejected a fresh contract offer last week and is now in talks with Chelsea after Arsenal agreed a £35million fee for his signature.

Liverpool were also in the hunt for Oxlade-Chamberlain – the Reds will likely miss out on the 24-year-old but have reportedly secured a deal for Naby Keita.

The Guinean midfielder has impressed a number of clubs with his performances for RB Leipzig and will join Liverpool at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
