Arsenal have received a new bid from Inter Milan for German defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to the Daily Mail.

Serie A giants Inter and Juventus have both expressed interest in signing Mustafi, who joined the Gunners last August in a £35million deal form Valencia.

Mustafi failed to impress in his first season at the Emirates and Arsene Wenger is ready to offload him along as the club can recoup a significant chunk of his fee from last summer.

Inter, keen to bring the 25-year-old to the San Siro, have offered Arsenal a £4.6million loan fee with an option to buy for £23m.

Arsenal are not expected to be active in the transfer market before Thursday night’s deadline but Wenger is still said to be open to bolstering his defensive options.

The Gunners remain interested in wantaway Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk but are wary that Southampton have so far proved unwavering in their stance that he will not be sold.

Wenger will also likely lose Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from his squad at the Emirates. A fee of £35m was agreed with Chelsea but the England international is reportedly pushing for a move to Liverpool to work under Jurgen Klopp.
