Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches is on the verge of a shock switch to Swansea City.
The Portugal international has long been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United but Paul Clement’s close ties with the Bundesliga champions has seen the Swans win the race.
Sanches signed for Bayern in a £44million move last summer but underwhelmed during his opening campaign at the Allianz Arena and he wants first-team football this term to break back into the Portugal set-up.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Swansea have agreed a season-long loan deal for Sanches and the midfielder is en route to Wales to complete his transfer.
Sanches’ arrival will be seen as a significant coup for the Swans, who are also close to signing ex-striker Wilfried Bony.
Chelsea enquired about Sanches’ availability after their pre-season friendly with Bayern Munich in Singapore this summer and Liverpool were thought to be interested as a deal for Naby Keita looked unlikely.
