Ousmane Dembele has raised one or two eyebrows after going on something of a following spree on Instagram – adding all his new Barcelona team-mates…and Philippe Coutinho.

The Liverpool playmaker is widely expected to make the £148million transfer to Barca this week, with latest reports suggesting the Reds are delaying the finalisation of the deal as they look for a replacement.

Still, Dembele’s latest social media action suggests the move is very much on as, intentionally or not, he seems to be counting the Brazilian as among his new team-mates at the Nou Camp.

The 25-year-old will overtake Dembele as the second most expensive player in history if he does join Barcelona, in what has been an eventful summer in Catalunya.

First, Neymar left the club in a shock move as Paris Saint-Germain met his £199m release clause, giving the La Liga giants plenty of money of their own to spend on new players.

They have since moved swiftly to sign Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in a £135m deal, but club director Robert Fernandez hinted yesterday that they would look to bring in one more player.

Coutinho has been touted as Barcelona’s main target for much of the last month or so, with the club eager to land the Reds star as a long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta in that creative midfield role.

Dembele now seems confident he will be joined by Coutinho at his new club, and the pair could prove a fine pairing in this new-look side, even if a combined fee of £283m looks more than a little steep.
