Arsenal’s hopes of pulling off a deadline day swoop for Julian Draxler appear to have been dashed by Germany boss Joachim Low.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward is reported to have been identified by Arsene Wenger as potential replacement for Alex Sanchez, who is likely to be the subject of a £70million bid from Manchester City today.

Having maintained all summer long that the Chile international is not for sale, despite the fact he is unlikely to sign an extension to a contract which expires next summer, Arsenal could now look to cash in if they can find a suitable candidate to fill his shoes.

Draxler has been a favourite of Wenger’s ever since he broke through the ranks at Schalke but Low claims the 23-year-old will not be leaving the French capital.

‘I know for a fact that Paris don’t want to sell him,’ Low said.

‘They are convinced of his outstanding qualities.

‘He made such a big step forward there. I am convinced that he will come out on top at Paris. By now, he’s already playing a big role for us.’
