Phil Neville hailed Marcus Rashford as a ‘superstar’ following his match-winning performance for England against Slovakia and says the striker’s temparement is his biggest quality.

Rashford was at fault for Slovakia’s opening goal but he assisted Eric Dier to level the match and scored the winner in the second half.

The Manchester United forward has made a bright start to the season and scored the opener in the Red Devils’ 2-0 win against Leicester City after emerging from the substitutes’ bench.

And Neville believes Mourinho has got a ‘gem’ on his hands with Rashford because the striker has the right mentality to reach the top.

‘His biggest quality is his temperament,’ Neville told BBC 5Live.

‘He never looks flustered, he can miss a chance and never looks flustered.

‘He’s improving every time I see him. He’s getting stronger, he’s getting fitter and I just think we’ve got an absolute gem on our hands.

Rashford burst onto the scene in the final months of Louis van Gaal’s reign at Old Trafford and has emerged as a crucial figure under Mourinho at the Theatre of Dreams.

The teenager’s rapid rise to fame certainly could have gone to his head but Neville says Rashford remains down to earth.

‘He’s got brilliant technique and the best thing about him is he’s got his feet on the ground.

‘He goes and watches his mates play on a Sunday, goes out on the streets playing football with his mates.

‘He doesn’t really post things on Instagram or Twitter that you think ‘he’s getting carried away things’

‘I just think if you’re managing Marcus Rashford at the moment, you’ve got a little superstar’
