Philippe Coutinho is fit enough to play 90 minutes ahead of his potential return for Liverpool, according to Brazil boss Tite.

The 25-year-old has not featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season as the midfielder held out for a move to Barcelona which failed to materialise.

Coutinho was officially sidelined with a back injury, although he came on as a second-half substitute against Ecuador last Thursday and found the net in a 2-0 win for Brazil.

Coutinho could make his comeback against Manchester City on Saturday, and Tite believes the midfielder is capable of seeing out the game from the start.

‘Coutinho is physically fit to play 90 minutes,’ said Brazil’s head coach.

‘I can count on him for part of the game.

‘He’s fine physically, but technically it’s different. He has not played for a long time.’
