Danny Drinkwater sent a direct warning to Cesc Fabregas on the training field ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Leicester City this weekend.

The 27-year-old completed a £35million move to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day and could feature against his former side at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Antonio Conte brought the Englishman to Chelsea to add top-class competition to the likes of N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Fabregas in his midfield.

With the Drinkwater and Fabregas fighting for a place in Conte’s midfield this season, Chelsea’s deadline day signing will have been desperate to make an impact at Cobham this week.

And, after scoring a sensational solo goal on Tuesday, Drinkwater fired home another brilliant effort after bypassing Fabregas with a brilliant piece of skill.

Jamie Vardy claims ex-Leicester team-mates Drinkwater and Kante are ‘enemies’ ahead of this weekend’s King Power Stadium showdown.

He told Sky Sports: ‘It will be good to see them again but obviously come kick-off they’re enemies to me.

‘That’s just how it is – as soon as the full-time whistle goes we’ll be back to talking again.’
