Antonio Conte admits Chelsea fans may need to wait to see Danny Drinkwater’s debut.

The 27-year-old was a £35 million deadline day signing from Leicester City but has not made a Premier League appearance this season due to a groin injury.

Drinkwater has trained with his new teammates this week and although he has been included in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Leicester, Conte admits he is unsure when the midfielder will be fit to play.

‘Danny… we are working with him, we are trying to make him in the best physical condition, but it’s normal the transfer window you know there’s a possibility to go in another team it’s not simple,’ said the Chelsea manager.

‘I think it’s a good buy for us, he’s working well this week, he’s improved his physical condition.

‘He’s in the squad for the Leicester game, but I don’t know when he’ll be ready to play.’
