Atletico Madrid officials have jetted in to London to secure the transfer of Chelsea outcast Diego Costa, reports say.

The La Liga giants have sent a team to the UK in order to meet with Blues director Marina Granovskaia to push through a move for the Spaniard and end his long-running saga with the club.

After failing to agree a deal before the summer window shut, Atletico are now looking to get their January business sorted for when the club’s transfer ban expires.

Costa has already agreed personal terms with Atletico, and will sign a £9.1million-a-year deal, according to the Express.

And they will offer Chelsea a fresh £32m bid in the hopes that they can get the deal over the line.

Costa has been AWOL in Brazil since receiving a text from Antonio Conte saying he was surplus to requirements.

Alvaro Morata has been signed in his place but it remains to be seen if Costa will be reintegrated to the squad, particularly after the Italian missed out on Fernando Llorente on deadline day.
