Nemanja Matic can be left ‘isolated’ because of Paul Pogba, claims Charlie Adam (Picture: Getty)

Charlie Adam claimed Stoke City exploited Paul Pogba’s biggest weakness after his side’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United at the bet365 Stadium.

The Red Devils had recorded three clean sheets in their first three Premier League matches but a brace from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting meant the Potters came away with a point on Saturday afternoon.

Pogba, who had been praised for his opening performances of the campaign, was faced criticism following the draw and Adam believes his roaming left Nemanja Matic ‘isolated’ on a number of occasions.

‘We felt we could punish United at the sides of Pogba and Matic,’ Adam told BT Sport after the match.

‘Pogba is a world class player but at times he gets attracted to the ball and you can get the opposite side of him.

‘At times we tried that but United are a top side and we had to work hard for that.

‘He’s obviously a top player but if you can get to the side of him, Matic is isolated. At times we cause them problems.

‘We have to respect them and they caused us problems too but we deserved a draw in the end I think.’
