Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has revealed that he ‘thought about’ a move to Manchester United two years ago.

The Red Devils have been linked with Muller, 27, for several seasons and Bayern executive vice-chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen has confirmed that the Premier League giants had tabled a £91million offer for the German last summer.

Bayern have consistently batted away United’s advances for Muller but the World Cup-winning forward admits he once considered a sensational switch to Old Trafford.

He told German outlet Kicker: ‘There was a point, two years ago, when this was an issue, when I thought about it.

‘But the club immediately supported me and they told me, I belonged here.

‘When Bayern told me they needed me and how I am an important player, I did not have to think that much anymore.’

Reports suggest that both Chelsea and Arsenal are weighing up January moves for Muller.

Amid the speculation, Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti recently said: ‘I speak everyday with Thomas.

‘It’s normal that a player is not happy if he sits on the bench. It was the same with me as player.

‘Every player has to give the best. I know Thomas’ qualities but I can’t guarantee anyone’s place, this also applies to Muller.’
