Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has said if he had to choose one trophy to win this season it would be the Champions League rather than the Premier League title.

The France international joined the Blues from Monaco this summer, having won the Ligue 1 title and made it into the semi-finals of Europe’s top club competition last season.

Bakayoko is now aiming higher with his new club, and says the Champions League has that special appeal that puts it top of his personal list.

The 23-year-old also said it was a lifelong dream of his to lift the famous European Cup.

‘I would choose the Champions League because it is an exceptionally difficult competition. It’s not easy to win, so you should always grasp the chance to win it,’ Bakayoko said.

‘For the Premier League, you always have the opportunity to win when you play for a club like Chelsea. So, if I have to choose between the two, it would be the Champions League.

‘The Champions League has a different feeling to it, compared to other competitions. It is the number one competition in the world.

‘It’s always been my dream to play in the Champions League and win it.’

Chelsea weren’t in the Champions League last season, but are the last English side to have won the trophy, having beaten Bayern Munich in the 2012 final.
