Davide Zappacosta delivered an impressive display in his first start for Chelsea in their win over Qarabag – and Victor Moses was quickly reminded of the Italian’s performance by his own teammates.

Antonio Conte’s side crushed their Azerbaijani opponents 6-0 at Stamford Bridge and Zappacosta appeared to score the goal of the evening as his shot from 30 yards flew into the net.

And during the wild celebrations in the Chelsea dugout, David Luiz and Willy Caballero were seen joking with Moses, presumably telling him that his days on Conte’s right flank may be numbered after Zappacosta’s thunderbolt.

The Italy international has already taken the shine off the goal by admitting that his effort was a cross.

But after the game, Conte was keen to praise his summer signing from Torino.

‘He played a really good game, now he has to continue to improve,’ said the Chelsea boss.

‘For sure he knew my style of football, that’s why I started with him.

‘He played very well, it was the first appearance for him at Stamford Bridge. The answer was very good.’
