Arsenal star Hector Bellerin says Arsene Wenger’s half-time change to a back four made the difference in tonight’s Europa League win over Cologne.

The Gunners boss replaced Rob Holding with Sead Kolasinac at the interval, and within just four minutes of the second half the Bosnian left-back equalised with a superb effort.

Arsenal have been using a back three system with wing-backs since the latter stages of last season, and while it initially worked for them, they’ve not looked convincing in the setup this term.

Wenger finally tweaked things in tonight’s game as Arsenal found themselves 1-0 down at the break, only to go on and win 3-1.

Speaking afterwards, Bellerin praised the change by the manager and the resulting impact from Kolasinac in particular.

‘It’s a difficult competition, we think we’re one of the best in the comp so we have to show it on the pitch,’ Bellerin told BT Sport in his post-match interview.

‘The boss had to change the tactics and it worked in the end. Sead came on, it gave us a boost.’

Bellerin was also on the scoresheet himself, adding the third after Alexis Sanchez’s wondergoal gave Arsenal the lead for the first time in the 67th minute.
