Leander Dendonker only has eyes for a future transfer to Manchester United and Anderlecht are prepared to help him achieve that ambition.

United were in touch with 22-year-old’s representatives earlier this summer before they signed Nemanja Matic in a £40 million deal from Chelsea.

The Premier League giants have regularly sent scouts to monitor Dendoncker and the midfielder impressed when he faced Jose Mourinho’s side in the Europa League last season.

Anderlecht will demand up to £31m for the powerful midfielder and the club’s sporting director, Herman van Holsbeeck, admits the play could well complete a move to Old Trafford next summer.

‘Dendoncker’s head was elsewhere,’ Van Holsbeeckhe, the Belgian club’s sporting director, told Sport/Foot.

‘He showed his disappointment during training at not being transferred. His mate, Tielemans, went to Monaco, he was training with the national team and he wanted, like them, to play in the biggest leagues.

‘Certain people in his entourage put pressure on me, on the club or on his agent, Christophe Henrotay.

‘Today, we’re prepared to pay him based on his status of key player and to work on his future transfer like we did for Youri. In fact, we all have an interest in working together.’
