Manchester United are reportedly panicking over the future of wonderkid Angel Gomes.

Back in May, Gomes became the youngest ever player to make an appearance for United’s first-team when, aged just 16 years and 263 days, he played in the side’s 2-0 defeat of Crystal Palace.

The Sun suggest Gomes, now 17, is making the Red Devils sweat, with the highly-rated attacking midfielder yet to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

It’s claimed the England Under-18 international was offered a new deal upon his seventeenth birthday last month but the contract remains unsigned.

Gomes has a year left as a Scholar at United and it’s understood Barcelona have been closely monitoring the teenager for some time.

Gomes thanked Jose Mourinho after the manager gave him his first-team debut at the end of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.

He told MUTV: ‘Obviously it’s dream come true.

‘Being here since the age of six, and working my way up – it’s what everyone dreams about.

‘I just want to thank the manager for trusting me, putting me on the bench and playing me today.

‘Obviously, all the staff back at the club [too] and everyone that’s helped me.’
