Mesut Ozil insists he will be ‘back playing very soon’ after missing Sunday’s goalless draw against Chelsea through injury.

Arsenal impressed in the Germany international’s absence, putting in one of their most cohesive away displays in recent years at the home of one of their traditional top four rivals.

Arsene Wenger confirmed the 28-year-old would also be absent from Wednesday’s Carabao Cup third round tie against Doncaster as his star playmaker continues to recover from a knee injury.

Arsenal are not back in action again until Monday night’s Premier League home clash against West Brom and Ozil hinted he could be back in contention for the visit of Tony Pulis’ side.

‘I’m back training on the pitch,’ he wrote on Instagram.

‘As you might have heard I’m suffering from a minor inflammation of my knee.

‘Feeling better each day now and hope to be back playing very soon!’
