Marcus Rashford claims his rivalry with Anthony Martial is ‘positive’ and believes Jose Mourinho’s selection ‘headache’ will work in Manchester United’s favour this season.

The Red Devils have been firing on all cylinders this term, with Rashford, Martial and Romelu Lukaku scoring 15 goals between them in all competitions ahead of this weekend’s clash with Southampton at St Mary’s.

Rashford and Martial have been battling for a place alongside Lukaku in Mourinho’s starting XI but the England forward is confident that competition at United can only lead to success.

‘It’s difficult when you’re in and out of the team,’ Rashford said following his brace in United’s 4-1 defeat of Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup.

‘But we have to find the positives out of it and I think we’ve both done that.

‘I think the competition is always positive because we’re improving each other every day when we’re in training and in the games.

‘We’re pushing each other more and more. It’s a bit of a headache for the manager, but it’s a good headache for him to have.’
