Diego Costa insists he is not upset with Antonio Conte after Chelsea confirmed they have agreed to sell the striker to Atletico Madrid.

The 28-year-old will initially join Atletico on loan but the Spanish club have an obligation to buy the player for £57.2 million next summer.

Costa will be unable to play for Atletico until January due to their transfer ban but is able to train with his new teammates.

As part of the deal, Chelsea will not subsidise any of Costa’s £185,000-a-week salary.

Last season, Conte and Costa were involved in a heated bust-up on the training ground and in the summer, the Chelsea manager informed the striker via text message that he would not be part of the club’s plans this term.

But despite being frozen out by Conte and spending most of the summer in Brazil, Costa is adamant that he has no ill-feeling towards his former manager.

‘There’s nothing of the sort there, I’m not upset with anybody, I have no bitterness towards anyone. Everything is cool,’ Costa told Splash News.

Asked if he had a message for Chelsea’s supporters, Costa replied: ‘Everybody knows how much I love the fans.’
