Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho believes his side’s rivals have an advantage in the title race due to the scheduling of Premier League matches after Champions League away ties.

The Red Devils take on CSKA Moscow in Russia on Wednesday and will have less than 72 hours to prepare for their 3pm kick-off against Crystal Palace on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Liverpool, conversely, take on Spartak Moscow on Tuesday night and have an extra 48 hours to prepare for their clash with Newcastle on Sunday.

Mourinho has been angered by the lack of foresight in the Premier League’s scheduling and his side face 3pm Saturday kick-offs against Brighton and Huddersfield after taking on Benfica and Basel away from home in the remainder of the group stage.

According to the Telegraph, Mourinho is furious with the lack of preparation his side have been afforded compared to the club’s title rivals.

United have around 192 hours of combined preparation after their three Champions League group stage away games but the likes of Liverpool (321,) Spurs (290) and Chelsea (250) have substantially more.

Mourinho’s side are currently level with Manchester City at the top of the table but the 54-year-old fears the scheduling could hinder the title race.

The Portuguese boss was angered at the Premier League’s lack of help throughout his side’s Europa League campaign last season when the Red Devils often had Sunday clashes after a Thursday night game in Europe.
