Manchester United are aiming to have new deals for Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini wrapped up before the open of the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Red Devils duo are set to be rewarded for their efforts in the last year with fresh contracts and Jose Mourinho wants them sorted by the end of December.

The Independent claim Mourinho does not want any contract issues dragging into the new year.

Mourinho wants his players fully focused on football as he aims to spearhead a sustained title challenge this season.

United have also cooled their concern surrounding Ander Herrera’s current deal and expect the midfielder to put pen to paper on a new contract soon.

Herrera was regularly linked with Barcelona during the summer, but the Catalan giants never moved for the Spaniard.

Mourinho has told the United hierarchy to get the deals down before January so he will have the perfect platform to push for the title.

United are currently tied on points with leaders Manchester City and sit in second due to their inferior goal difference.

Mourinho’s side has dropped just two points so far and have yet to beaten this campaign.

Rashford has been in fine form this season, racking up five goals in nine appearances as well as chipping in with two assists.

Fellaini has transformed himself into one of Mourinho’s most trusted players and the Belgian is considered a key component of the side.

Mourinho and United were furious with Shane Long’s reckless challenge in the 1-0 win over Southampton that forced Fellaini off and now looks set to sideline him for at least one game.

Fellaini’s importance is so great he has now moved ahead of Herrera in the United midfield pecking order.
