Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hailed four of his players in the aftermath of the side’s convincing 4-1 victory over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

The Red Devils took another giants step towards knockout stages of the competition, with Romelu Lukaku scoring a brace, as well as goals from Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitayran at the VEB Arena.

Jose Mourinho was without a number of his first-team regulars in Russia but their replacements stepped up and put in an assured display against experienced opposition.

‘I think the performance can only be good for the team and for the players,’ Mourinho said following the win.

‘For the team confidence is good because six points in two matches in the Champions League gives us a good position. For the players, individually, I think it’s also good because we had very good performances.’
