Michael Owen believes Romelu Lukaku should be aiming for at least 30 goals in all competitions this season, after the Belgium striker got off to an electric start to life at Manchester United.

The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and United attacker believes there is ‘no stopping’ Lukaku when he’s on song and has been seriously impressed with the striker’s intelligent and powerful play.

Lukaku has already banged in 10 goals in nine competitive games for the club and he was in lethal form against CSKA Moscow.

After Jose Mourinho’s side beat the Russian outfit 4-1 away, with goals from Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan supplementing a Lukaku double, Owen was full of praise for the 24-year-old and insisted he should pass the 30-goal mark if he stays fit.

‘I think all he has to do is be fit and be available for selection and just by playing in this team at the moment, you’re going to get lots of chances,’ he told BT Sport.

‘So I think I’d be surprised if he didn’t hit the 30-mark in all competitions this season and past seasons would suggest he’s not one of those players who are injury prone.

‘He should be fit regularly and there’s no stopping him.’
