Arsene Wenger was happy that Arsenal negotiated a tricky week of football to earn three wins but admitted his disappointment at how his side eased off against Brighton.

The Gunners secured a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over Chris Hughton’s side courtesy of goals from Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi to propel themselves up to fifth in the Premier League and maintain their excellent run of form.

Since being humbled by Liverpool, Arsenal have won six out of seven games and conceded just three goals in the process as they look to get their season back on track following a rocky start.

But after following up wins against West Brom and BATE Borisov, Wenger revealed he was not impressed with the manner of the win over Brighton and that they didn’t score more goals.

‘I believe we got a clean sheet, we got the three points and offensively we were a bit in doubt,’ he told BT Sport after the 2-0 win.

‘The fluency was sometimes there, sometimes not.

‘We maybe sometimes eased off a little bit too quickly and thought “ok maybe we will just win this”.

‘That’s a little bit the negative of the day.

‘Maybe we didn’t play a high enough pace to score more goals. They defended well as well, they intercepted many dangerous balls around the box.

‘In the end we knew we had a very testing week. We had two home games and one very long trip for the Europa League, we won the three games and that’s very positive.’
