Arsene Wenger is confident Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette will rapidly improve as they play more first-team matches together this season.

Arsenal’s star duo started only their second match together against Brighton and Hove Albion but neither player was able to find the net, with Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi the goalscorers in a 2-0 win at the Emirates.

Wenger believes both Sanchez and Lacazette can combine successfully in the same team, scoring goals and recording assists, and knows the partnership will come with time.

‘I feel that they combine well together and overall it’s a promising combination,’ Wenger said following the Gunners’ victory over Brighton.

‘There are some goals in there and with the providers around I believe we can score more goals.

‘Both of them can score goals. Both of them can give assists, so I expect a positive response from them on that.’

‘We work on the partnership in training but the best way is to play games together, so I believe that will come quickly.’

The Frenchman believes both Sanchez and Lacazette need the right ‘attitude’ in order to bring results on the pitch.

He added: ‘To adapt to each other on the pitch, first of all you need the desire to adapt to each other, to make each other better.

‘It’s always the same, I think great players together with the right attitude, they make each other better.

‘If they have not got the right attitude of course then it is a problem but the two of them look to have the right attitude.’
