Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has revealed he once laid into Harry Redknapp’s tactics and playing style during his Arsenal days.

The Spain international was frustrated after a 0-0 draw with Redknapp’s Portsmouth side in 2007, and was not shy of telling Redknapp what he thought about it to his face after the game.

However, Fabregas insists it was a one-off and the pair now get on very well whenever they meet, despite Redknapp later going on to manage Arsenal’s bitter north London rivals Tottenham.

Asked about it by James Corden on A League of Their Own, Fabregas initially tried to deny the story, before deciding to reveal what happened.

‘Nah… Actually yes,’ the 30-year-old replied. ‘It was at the end of a game with Portsmouth and it was a nil-nil.

‘I was young and you know, stupid, I want to win and I just saw him there in the tunnel of the Emirates and I just said “Your team plays like s***”.

‘And he just turns round and says, “You are a horrible man”.

‘I just run away. After that, we’ve been best friends. Every time we see each other we hug, we talk.’

Jamie Redknapp, who was also on the show, added: ‘I can remember calling him up and saying “Great result Dad” and he was like “that Fabregas is horrible! We had a big argument, he started having a go at me!”

‘But no he loves Cesc he always loves good players, he’s a big fan of Cesc.’
