Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been slapped with a ban from playing basketball because the club fear it is contributing to his injury problems.

The Frenchman is currently out of action with a hamstring injury with Jose Mourinho describing the injury as ‘long-term’.

Pogba is currently in the United States and could miss the next six weeks of action when United come up against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

The 24-year-old is a huge basketball fan and uploaded a number of videos onto Instagram last summer of him playing the sport – including one with then-Everton ace Romelu Lukaku.

However, according to the Sun, United fear that playing basketball has impacted Pogba’s fitness and they’ve banned him from doing so.

The club believe playing basketball could hinder Pogba’s recovery and have a negative impact on his knees and ankles.

United continue their Premier League campaign against Liverpool at Anfield after the international break and Pogba is not expected to be fit in time.
