Arsenal are in pole position to sign Trabzonspor starlet Abdulkadir Omur, according to the club’s former technical director.
Omur has only made four appearances for Trabzonspor but the 18-year-old midfielder is being tipped for big things after breaking into the first-team last season.
Ex-Trabzonspor director Sadi Tekelioglu has lifted the lid on Arsenal’s interest in Omur and claims the Gunners are leading Atletico Madrid in the race to land the Turkey Under-19 international.
Tekelioglu said: ‘Arsenal want to sign Abdulkadir.
‘I heard that Atletico Madrid are interested in him as well. But Arsenal are ahead of them in the race to sign Omur.
‘Arsene Wenger does a good job when it comes to discovering young players.
‘Abdulkadir will be a success when he moves to Europe.’
