Arsenal players believe Alexis Sanchez will finally complete his long-mooted move to Manchester City when the January transfer window opens.

The forward is into the final year of his contract at the Emirates and speculation over his future has been rife for months.

Manchester City made a £60million bid over the summer which Arsenal accepted but on the condition they could sign a replacement. When the Gunners failed to do so, Sanchez remained at the club.

In January the Chile international will be free to talk to clubs outside the Premier League about a future move. But it seems he could use the next window to make his exit from Arsenal.

The Telegraph report that some Arsenal players expect to see the back of Sanchez in January in the belief the club will finally give in to his wish to leave.

It’s also reported that some players think the uncertainty around his future has had a detrimental effect on the squad.

The January transfer window will be Arsenal’s last chance to see some sort of return on the £35million they spent to sign Sanchez from Barcelona in 2014. Man City are expected to return with an offer but it will be greatly reduced from the summer bid.

Paris St Germain could also move for Sanchez but it’s understood they would want to offload one or more players before bringing in anyone new due to their huge outlay on signings during the last transfer window.

Should Sanchez stay with Arsenal for the season, and no new contract is agreed, he will be free to leave for nothing next summer.

So far this season the 28-year-old has scored once in seven appearances for the Gunners.
