Barcelona plan to reignite their interest in Philippe Coutinho in January and will test Liverpool’s resolve with a £120million bid.

The La Liga giants had three bids rejected for the Brazilian last summer – the last of which was in the region £112m.

Coutinho was desperate to move to the Camp Nou and handed in a transfer request with three weeks remaining of the transfer window but Liverpool stood strong.

However, Barcelona have already begun a charm offensive and Liverpool noted the words of chief executive Oscar Grau on Tuesday who said the club were ‘ready’ to buy the Brazilian.

‘We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market, or any player the technical staff request,’ Grau said.

‘But it is important to adjust ourselves, so if there are to be arrivals, there must be exits.’

Liverpool rejected Barcelona’s advances because there was too little time to find a replacement but the La Liga giants will return with an improved £120m bid in January, according to the Daily Mail.

Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to sanction Coutinho’s departure midway through the season but the Brazilian is likely to be keen to join the Catalans again this time around.
