Former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish believes Arsenal are the only member of the Premier League’s top six not to improve this season.

The Gunners finished fifth last season and were pipped to a Champions League spot by Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Arsene Wenger’s side have made a mixed start to the campaign but their form has picked up in recent weeks following the closure of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday and, though Dalglish believes the league is a more level playing field following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, he says Arsenal have been left behind.

‘The days when one team wins everything in the Premier League are gone,’ Dalglish told betstars.

‘You’ll always have five or six in there and success will move about.

‘You have the Manchester teams, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham; apart from Arsenal all the teams are stronger than a few years ago.’

Many Arsenal fans wanted Wenger to step down at the end of last season but he signed a new two-year deal at the club after lifting the FA Cup.

The Gunners spent considerably less than their rivals in the transfer market last summer and ended up making a net profit after selling off the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Gabriel Paulista.
