Antonio Conte admitted Chelsea were in ‘a difficult moment’ and bemoaned the injuries to Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante after his side slumped to a shock defeat at Crystal Palace.

The Eagles had lost their first seven games of the Premier League season and hadn’t even scored a goal until they upset the odds at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Chelsea, who had lost to league leaders Manchester City before the international break, couldn’t find a way back into the contest after Wilfried Zaha fired Roy Hodgson’s side into a 2-1 lead on the stroke of half time.

Morata is expected to be back in time for the midweek Champions League clash against Roma but Kante’s injury in longer term and Conte admits he needs to find a solution.

‘I think in this moment for us it is a very difficult moment,’ he said. ‘When you start the game without Morata and Kante it is not simple

‘To lose a player like Kante it is not simple. He is able to cover a lot of the pitch, I have to think also and find a different solution.

‘The balance is very important, if you want to win it is important. For sure today our balance was poor.

‘You know I don’t like to lose, when you lose two games in a row. My soul is bad and tonight will be difficult for me to sleep.

‘We must have the same sensation, me and my players to change this difficult situation.’
