Ander Herrera showed his leadership qualities yet again as he animatedly gave Anthony Martial instructions during half-time of Manchester United’s draw with Liverpool.

The Spanish midfielder has developed a reputation as Jose Mourinho’s on-pitch lieutenant, often taking matters into his own hands – notably in the Europa League final.

Back in May, he clocked that Henrikh Mkhitaryan was on a yellow card and risked receiving another if Ajax broke from a corner, so ordered him into the box; seconds later he scored.

And, despite not receiving as much game time as he would like this season, Herrera is still an extremely vocal presence, this time spotted ordering Martial around at half-time a Anfield.

The Spaniard appeared to be berating his younger teammate, along with Mkhitaryan initially, telling him to hold his position better and ‘stay open’ as they walked back out onto the pitch.

Herrera is known to be very busy behind the scenes for United despite dropping to the bench following Nemanja Matic’s arrival from Chelsea this summer.

He motivated his teammates pre-match for the Champions League tie against CSKA Moscow, has been giving Eric Bailly defensive tips and even reminded his teammates who to mark against Crystal Palace while warming up on the touchline.

United fans will be very pleased to see last season’s Player of the Year so involved, especially with his contract set to expire next summer.

Other highlights from the Tunnel Cam included Sir Alex Ferguson joking about receiving his warmest ever greeting at Anfield, and Kenny Dalglish – who had a stand at Anfield named his honour – catching up with Liverpool and United legends.
