Luiz was furious (Picture: PA)

David Luiz clashed with Alvaro Morata just moments before being substituted by Antonio Conte after the Spanish striker denied him a goalscoring opportunity.

The Brazilian was enjoying a powerful run into the Roma half but an offside Morata halted his progress by nicking the ball off him.

Luiz, who was about to be withdrawn anyway, let his feelings known to the 24-year-old by screaming at him, while gesticulating furiously as he trudged off the pitch.

The centre-back was already due to be replaced by Conte and he stormed off down the tunnel, clearly infuriated by his team-mate’s actions.

And his frustration turned out to be well placed as Edin Dzeko scored an absolute screamer to draw the Italian side level before heading home to see them move 3-2 up.

After Luiz had opened the scoring with a curling effort and Eden Hazard doubled the lead turning in a deflected Morata shot, Chelsea looked in complete control.

But a goal from Aleksandar Kolarov, before a quickfire double from former Manchester City man Dzeko saw Roma take the lead.

However, Hazard soon got the Blues back on level terms with a deft header.
