Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken another step towards his return for Manchester United after taking part in sessions with the first-team squad, according to reports.

The 36-year-old required knee surgery at the start of May to fix a cruciate ligament injury and has been subsequently missed the start of United’s season.

But The Sun now reports that Ibrahimovic has joined regular sessions with United’s players for the past seven days and is being carefully reintroduced to full training.

The report claims that the striker is performing at 90 per cent and is managing to take part in sessions for around 25 minutes.

Ibrahimovic has not yet completed a full training session but is able to take part in shooting and passing drills.

The forward is also regularly staying behind at United’s training base to work on his conditioning.

The Sun also report that United’s staff are hopeful that Ibrahimovic will be able to compete in full-contact sessions within the next two weeks.

Earlier this month, reports claimed that Ibrahimovic is targeting a comeback date well before the end of the year and is aiming to be available for United’s fixture against Arsenal on December 2.

Ibrahimovic made a major impact in his first season at Old Trafford after joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last year.

The Swede scored 27 goals in 45 games, helping United win the Europa League and the EFL Cup.
