Antonio Conte has once again told Jose Mourinho to worry more about his own team rather than Chelsea after the Manchester United boss aimed a veiled dig at his Italian counterpart.

Mourinho claimed that, unlike himself, some managers ‘cried’ over injuries, a comment that was interpreted as a dig at Conte who is currently enduring an injury crisis.

When told about the remarks after Wednesday’s Champions League draw with Roma, he hit back and brought up Mourinho’s own time at Chelsea, when he was sacked midway through the season.

Asked again about Mourinho, Conte downplayed their rivalry – describing it as a ‘stupid issue’ – but once again urged other managers to talk about their own football clubs, not his.

Questioned on whether he regretted hitting back at Mourinho at his pre-match press conference, Conte replied: ‘Regret? Why? I think every coach, every manager, has to talk about his job, about himself, about his team, about his players, and not the other.

‘My answer is always the same. Every coach must be focused on his own work, on his own complaints, and I think that’s the best way.’

Pressed again if Mourinho got under his skin, he continued: ‘No. I think this is stupid things. For me it’s a stupid subject, a stupid issue.

‘It’s fun to see your interest in this, and I am surprised about this honestly.’

Chelsea are without the likes of N’Golo Kante and Victor Moses for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Watford, and Conte admits a number of the players who started against Roma are doubts.
