Gary Neville has ruled Chelsea out of the title race and says the Premier League trophy is heading back to Manchester.

Antonio Conte’s men trail leaders Manchester City by nine points after just eight matches played and are without a win in three matches in all competitions.

The Blues benefited from a season without European football last term but appear to be struggling with a packed fixture list this campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been the standout performers this season and have scored an astonishing 29 goals in eight matches.

Neville acknowledges that City are favourites for the title but says his former side can challenge their neighbours all the way.

‘They look like the two clubs. I love watching Tottenham, but have the got the depth to challenge United and City this season? I’m not sure,’ said Neville.

‘Arsenal? No. Chelsea look like they’re in a difficult moment and Liverpool are not quite there, either. So it’s United and City.

‘At the moment, City are looking in the better form, but United have got the maturity and I’m sure they will get through the winter months well, which can be key.’
