Michy Batshuayi’s super-sub display in Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Watford has been praised by Diego Costa.

The Premier League champions looked on course for their third consecutive Premier League defeat after Pedro’s opener was overhauled by goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Roberto Pereyra.

But Conte’s decision to bring on Batshuayi changed the game as the Belgian scored either side of Cesar Azpilicueta’s goal to inspire Chelsea to a comeback victory.

And the 24-year-old’s performance did not go unnoticed with Costa, who hailed his former teammate on Instagram by commenting ‘top Michi’ on the striker’s celebratory post.

‘It was good for Michy to score two goals,’ Antonio Conte told Sky Sports after the win at Stamford Bridge.

‘He had an impact in the game and I’m very happy for him. ‘I think it’s important always to think for the team not just for himself, or myself. We have to think for the team.

‘The goals were important for the team and important for the confidence, but Michy has to continue to work this way and show with every chance he deserves to play.’
