RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner admits he has dreamed about joining Manchester United.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest young strikers in Europe and has already scored five goals in six Bundesliga games this season.

The Germany international was linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer, with reports claiming that he was high on Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist.

But Werner admits he has wanted to make the move to Old Trafford since he was a kid.

‘As a young boy, you always dream of the big club you’d like to play for,’ he told Sky.

‘It used to be Manchester United under Alex Ferguson, who always won. A young boy is always a fan of those who win.

‘You can’t just drop something like that. When it’s going well, you dream of playing somewhere else.’
