Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to drop a number of his top players after the club’s disastrous defeat to Huddersfield.

The Red Devils tasted defeat for the first time this season after a lacklustre display in Yorkshire and Mourinho tore into his players afterwards.

United are now level with rivals Tottenham going into Saturday’s clash at the Theatre of Dreams and Mourinho has warned certain members of his squad they will be dropped if they don’t improve their levels in training.

The Red Devils take on Swansea City in the League Cup tonight and Mourinho’s set to name a much-changed side.

United were lacklustre against Huddersfield 

However, he will give his players the rest of the week to prove themselves in time for the visit of Spurs and won’t hesistate to drop any member of the squad that fails to meet his expectations, according to the Independent.

Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera are said to have come in for criticism from Mourinho in the dressing room after Saturday’s defeat, while Juan Mata was at fault for the first goal.

Meanwhile, Eric Bailly has given Mourinho a huge boost by returning to training ahead of Saturday’s game.

The Ivorian’s missed a month of action after sustaining an injury on international duty with the Ivory Coast but should be fit to start against Spurs.
