Liverpool are weighing up a move for Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas in January, according to reports.

The 36-year-old, capped 167 times by Spain whom he captained to World Cup glory in 2010, signed for Porto in the summer of 2015 after 17 trophy-laden years with the Spanish giants.

Jurgen Klopp has rotated both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius this season, with the Belgium international starting all but one of his side’s Premier League games, while the German has been selected in the Champions League.

Neither, however, is said to have convinced Klopp they have the credentials to establish themselves as the club’s long-term No.1 with Mignolet again culpable for two of the goals conceded in last Sunday’s 4-1 defeat against Tottenham at Wembley.

Liverpool have conceded 15 goals away from home in the league so far this season, the worst record in the division, and El Pais claims Klopp will consider a move for Casillas in a bid to solve one of his side’s biggest problems.

The Portuguese giants currently lead the Premiera Liga by two points having won eight of their nine matches, conceding just four goals, and remain in contention to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, but El Pais claim they could sanction Casillas’ departure when the transfer window opens in order to lessen their wage bill.
