Anthony Martial was the hero for Manchester United after coming off the bench to score the winner in a 1-0 defeat of Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho opted to start Marcus Rashford over Martial at Old Trafford and brought the France forward on with 20 minutes of the clash remaining against Spurs.

It turned out to be a masterstroke from Mourinho, with Martial keeping his nerve to score in the 81st minute, and the attacker sent a clear message to his manager after the win.

He told Sky Sports: ‘No, me I want to play, I don’t want to be on the bench.
