Jose Mourinho insists Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial can play in the same team but the depth of his squad has made it difficult this season.

Both forwards have impressed for Manchester United in recent weeks, scoring a combined total of 13 league goals, but Mourinho is yet to name the duo in the same starting XI in the English top flight.

The pair did start together in the Red Devils’ 2-0 defeat of Swansea in the Carabao Cup last week and Mourinho hinted they could both play versus Benfica on Tuesday evening.

In the lead-up to the Champions League clash, Mourinho said: ‘We played Marcus and Anthony together in Swansea one week ago, so yes they can play together – that’s no problem.
