Antonio Conte has confirmed that he expects Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante to be fit to face Roma on Tuesday night in the Champions League.

Drinkwater has only played twice in his first season as a Chelsea player while Kante has missed the last four games through injury.

The double injury boost is excellent news for Conte, who has been dealing with a thin squad made even lighter due to injuries.

Kante and Drinkwater should play a part in Rome, but Conte revealed wing-back Victor Moses needed more time to recover.

‘We had three starters out, but we have recovered Drinkwater and Kante,’ Conte said.

‘Moses needs more time. We have to take it game by game and try to do our best in every game.’

Conte refused to say whether Kante could potentially start against Roma, insisting he has to speak with the defensive midfielder first.

‘Kante trained with us, also before the game at Bournemouth,’ continued Conte.

Chelsea drew the home fixture with Roma a week ago and Conte admitted it was vital the Blues finished top of their group.

He said: ‘I think our group is a tough group, with Atletico and Roma two really strong teams.

‘To be at the top is very important, we are trying to face all competitions.

‘In this week we went through to the next round of the Carabao Cup. For sure tomorrow it will be a really tough game and we must pay great attention.

‘We are recovering important players and you know very well how important it is for me to have all the players available.’
