Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool may be looking for a new penalty taker after Mohamed Salah’s miss against Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Egypt international took over from Roberto Firmino after the Brazilian missed a spot-kick against Sevilla earlier this season.

But Salah’s effort was easily saved by Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl, although Liverpool went on to register a 3-0 win at Anfield.

And now Klopp has suggested that Daniel Sturridge could be in line to take penalties ahead of Salah.

Klopp has hinted that Salah may be removed as Liverpool’s first-choice taker. (Reuters)

‘I thought it made sense after the Egypt penalty, obviously the pressure is bigger in Liverpool than in Egypt to qualify for the World Cup!’ said the Liverpool manager.

Asked if Salah is still considered as Liverpool’s first-choice penalty taker, Klopp said: ‘I’m not sure that he is anymore.

‘I think Daniel would have been a safe number in this group of players.’
